Albizu University, in collaboration with the Interamerican Society of Psychology (SIP, or Sociedad Interamericana de Psicología) and the American Psychological Association (APA), presents the First Annual Excellence in Psychology Conference.
With a focus on Neuropsychology and Addiction Training, this event convenes professionals from Latin America and the U.S.A.
The conference, which offers two ways to attend (in person and via live webcast), will be held on Thursday, May 26, at Albizu University in our Multipurpose Room.
The conference will feature Dr. Antonio E. Puente, who will present on The Latinization of Clinical Neuropsychology, and Dr. Scott Hyman, who will present on Addiction Training in Clinical Psychology.
Albizu University is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Albizu University maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This conference provides 2.0 hours of continuing education, free for psychologists.



Dr. Antonio E. Puente is an American neuropsychologist and academic. He was the president of the American Psychological Association (APA) in 2017. Dr. Puente has a private practice, is the founding director of a bilingual mental health clinic, and is a psychology faculty member of the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). He founded the journal Neuropsychology Review.
Dr. Hyman is a licensed clinical psychologist. He earned his Ph.D. from Nova Southeastern University in 2003 after completing his pre-doctoral internship at the Boston Consortium in Clinical Psychology/Boston VA Healthcare System. He has been a professor in the Doctoral Clinical Psychology Program at Albizu University since 2009 and has also served as the University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) Chairperson.
